Frustration

Apparently, I have two blogs going on and I don't know how this can be so if I post the same thing twice, I apologize. I am frustrated because when I photograph my art, I am not able to have a finished image that is as nice as the actual painting. Maybe this happens to everyone but I have seen iphone images better than the way mine look on my Mac. If anyone has a suggestion other than the obvious, get an iphone, I would appreciate the help !
Thank you

  1. Hi Kate, I'm passing on the Sunshine Award to you. (see my blog for details) I really like how you do portraits. This one is great.

  2. hi kate - i also got the sunshine award and i'm so happy to find you through this means! - i started my blog a year ago and really struggled with the first photos - i checked with my digital production people and found out i needed to zoom to the 3.1 setting and not use a flash - i do my photographing outside in natural daylight and after i employed these tips, the photos got better. i hope you'll check out my blog and perhaps trade links with me - happy painting!

  3. Thank you, Stephanie !! i appreciate the award. This is encouraging me to post more. It is fun to meet people on here. If I can figure out how to, I will exchange links with you and also with Susie !
Susie, thanks for responding to my question about photography. I am not sure what you mean by 3.1 setting but I will look in my instruction book. I don't use a flash. I use aperture setting on my digital because the colors are closer. I am going to buy a new tripod this week. I think some of the blur is movement????

  4. Susie means to zoom in. This is because most point and shoot digitals are quite wide angle and tend to "fish-eye" images if you don't zoom.

If you're having trouble with colour on your Mac, you might need to go into your System Preferences > Display > Color and try some different profiles or go through the "calibrate" process.

If you're using Photoshop (I'm not sure about others) you might want to try different Color Settings for viewing and processing RGB images.

It can be daunting if you're not familiar with it all and it's worth checking your blog on someone else's computer to see if the images look different. Otherwise you might need to change the way you process the images instead of changing your preferences.
